The story is set in the western metropolis of Los Angeles around 2004, and it unfolds the complex and touching world of emotions between a couple of young Chinese men. He Ru and Wu Xiaotian were lovers when they were in college in Shanghai. After graduating from college, He Ru went to the United States, and later studied for an MBA and worked for a company in Los Angeles. Wu Xiaotian stayed in China. Eight years later, Wu Xiaotian came to La City to do post-doctoral work because of career and relationship setbacks, but his old relationship with He Ru could not be restored. By chance, He Ru meets Liu Dongqi, a lawyer who has just arrived in La Ciudad to work, and Liu falls in love with her at first sight. But He Ru didn't accept his advances, and her feelings were always torn between Wu Xiaotian and Liu Dongqi. Liu Dongqi was divorced in Vancouver and left behind a daughter.
